Cabo san Lucas, Mexico - Nov 2008 : In November 2008, I and some friends made a trip to the Socorros Islands on the Nautilus Explorer. Two of us showed up in Cabo san Lucas, Mexico a few days early to get some local diving in before boarding the Nautilus Explorer. These are a few of the pics from those dives. Due to strobe issues I did not get any pictures of the hammerhead sharks schooling, or mantas there, but we did see those as well.

sample pics : Sample pictures taken with D300 and Sigma 17-70mm HSM versus Nikkor 60mm. These show the problems with getting a 'sharp' image with the 17-70. The sharpest images taken with that lens are at the widest angles (I think). The 60mm Nikkor seems to just be sharper all the time. Is there a problem with my 17-70? With the port on the housing (different ports used for the two lens)? Or is the 17-70 just not that sharp? It is frustrating because I LOVE being able to zoom in and out. You never know what you are going to see down there. Any advice or comments about what is going on with the 17-70mm Sigma would be greatly appreciated!

May 2008 in Manila, Philippines. If you think this horse looks to small to pull all that weight (aren't American's Big?), you should have seen the little thing that I road up to the top of an old volcano dome. I thought I'd have to carry it up...
