In the center of the photo is a cave fish. It is perhaps 6 inches long. Blind, without pigment, and with barely any fins to speak of, these fish move about the cave in search of small crustaceans and other tidbits of food. There is so little food that often you won't see any of these in a cave. Also, voracious non-cave fish have learned to follow divers and stay in their lights hunting for creatures in the caves. It is sad, as the cave fish are defenseless. Often we cover our lights, or swim in darkness part way to keep the topside fish from entering with us.
